OUR BODIES | OUR VESSELS is a mixed-media exhibition exploring the duality of bodies and vessels. Featured artists come together through Collaborative Creatives, a cohort of artists seeking creative accountability led by Kaspar Haake. This unique dynamic features the work of Nebraska Wesleyan University students and alumni, allowing ideas to converse with each other and find connections across media. Together, overlapping themes provide distinct representations of vessels in each of our works. Utilizing our individual styles, abstract expressionism, and political détournement, we explore vessels in the literal, anatomical, symbolic, and political senses. Our bodies can experience a myriad of physiological responses from the forces enacted upon it: serenity through calming repetition; political anger; agonizing emotions that feel tangible enough to surface. Yet ultimately, our bodies are simply flesh, blood, and vessels.
